Participation in the International Sports Conference with Michael Møller, Director of the United Nations Office, at the United Nations Headquarters in Geneva

 

Meeting with His Excellency Michael Møller – Director of the United Nations Office at Geneva

During my participation in the International Sports Conference at the United Nations Headquarters in Geneva on Thursday, 28 March 2019, I had the honor of meeting His Excellency Michael Møller, Director of the United Nations Office at Geneva.
This meeting took place on the sidelines of the session of the Intergovernmental Committee for Physical Education and Sport (CIGEPS) under UNESCO, which was dedicated to discussing effective ways to implement the United Nations Action Plan on making sports a tool for promoting development and peace among nations.


Meeting with UNESCO’s Executive Director for Sport – Mr. Philippe Muyters

I was also honored to meet His Excellency Mr. Philippe Muyters, Executive Director for Sports at UNESCO, during the conference. He expressed his appreciation and welcomed the proposal I presented.


Meeting with His Excellency Ambassador David Fernandez Puyana

Additionally, I had the honor of meeting His Excellency Ambassador David Fernandez Puyana, Permanent Observer of the University for Peace to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva.


Meeting with His Excellency Ambassador Adel Issa Al-Mahri

I was also privileged to meet His Excellency Ambassador Adel Issa Al-Mahri, Permanent Observer of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to the United Nations in Geneva.


Meeting with Mr. Juan Luis Croucelle-Jijón – Senior UNCTAD Official & President of the UN Football Club

I also met Mr. Juan Luis Croucelle-Jijón, Senior High-Level Official at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and President of the United Nations Football Club.
An agreement was reached to collaborate in organizing a number of major international sports events under the umbrella of the United Nations.


Reception by Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Permanent Representative – Mr. Khaled Al-Salloum

I was further honored to be received by His Excellency Khaled Al-Salloum, Deputy Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations.
I presented to His Excellency a detailed briefing on the outcomes of my international visit to Geneva in the field of sports, its connection to peace and sustainable development, and the ways in which this valuable experience can be utilized in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030, particularly regarding youth development, sports initiatives, and supporting related infrastructure.

His Excellency expressed full support for any sports project undertaken for the benefit of our beloved Kingdom, especially those organized in partnership with the United Nations Football Club and Swiss international organizations active in sports, peace, and sustainable development.
